Mason Korea provides faculty with reduced teaching loads to support their research, foster meaningful outcomes, and encourage the development of new products and services. We believe this opportunity will greatly benefit our community while further enhancing professional expertise.

Research releases are for one year. At the end of each year, you will be asked to provide an account of your progress on the plan and its expected outcomes. Renewal of releases will be contingent upon meeting the goals of the current proposal or (if research takes a different turn) their equivalents. Renewals will also require a new proposal for the following year.

Proposal requirements are as follows:

  1. Research Plan: Please describe the research question you plan to answer, how these answers forward existing scholarship on the question, the kinds of evidence and disciplinary methods you will rely on for your answers, and the approximate time required to complete your project.
  2. Expected outcomes: Please detail the places you will make available your research, including expected presentations, publication venues, and/or grant opportunities.
  3. Qualifications: Please outline the elements of your academic training and previous scholarship that prepare you to do this work.
