  1. 🚈Subway

Subways are among the most convenient and widely used public transportation systems in Korea, favored by both locals and international visitors. Currently, subway systems operate in five major cities: Seoul, Busan, Daegu, Gwangju, and Daejeon.

Seoul Metropolitan Area boasts an extensive network, including lines 1 through 9, as well as additional lines such as the Sinbundang Line, Gyeongchun Line, Gyeongui-Jungang Line, Ever Line, Uisinseol Line, and more. Each line is color-coded, making navigation easy and efficient for passengers. For more information, please visit the VISITKOREA website.

  1. 🚌Buses

Express buses, known as jwaseok (seat) buses in Korean, offer a more comfortable ride compared to general buses. As they typically operate on long-distance routes, express buses charge higher fares than general buses.

General buses are referred to as ilban (general) buses in Korean. There are three main types: red, blue, and maeul (village) buses. Destinations are clearly marked in Korean, English, and Chinese, making it easy for passengers to find the bus they need.

🔵 Blue buses - General blue buses are mid-range routes operating within Incheon, providing transportation to major landmarks as well as more specific destinations.

🟢 Village buses - Known as maeul (village) buses in Korean, these neighborhood shuttles typically operate on short-distance routes within residential areas that have limited access to major public transportation. The buses are smaller and charge lower fares than general buses.

🔴 Red buses - Red buses are primarily used for long-distance travel, with routes designed to connect primary and secondary central business districts. Passengers can reach more specific destinations by transferring to local buses. There are 21 red bus routes operating between Incheon and Seoul.

🚌 M buses - Compared to other buses, M buses (Metropolitan buses)’ routes significantly reduce the number of stops, allowing for long-distance travel approximately 15 minutes faster on average than existing routes. Standing passengers are not permitted, and the number of available seats is displayed at the front. Once all seats are occupied, the bus will bypass remaining stops to ensure a faster arrival at the destination.

  1. 🚕Taxis

For destinations not accessible by bus or subway, or simply for faster and more comfortable travel, Incheon offers numerous taxis providing 24-hour service. Fares are relatively affordable, starting at KRW 4,800 for the first 1.6km, with an additional charge of KRW 100 every 33 seconds (or 135m).
